Category: Zone BBS Suggestions and Feedback
1. A mental health board? I know this could be a sub-category of health and illness, but I think it might flourish independently as well. People could discuss things such as depression, eating disorders, adiction, etc.
2. The ability to edit posts. Has this been suggested before? I think it would be pretty handy.
Suggestion 2 has been asked before, as well as the ability to delete your posts.
It was felt that editing of posts shouldn't be aloud because you could in effect at any time change the meaning of what you were saying. That in turn could completely ruin the thread of a conversation. You can however now view your posts before posting to make sure that everything is to your liking and that HTML works properly if used.
Being able to delete ones own posts could also ruin the thread of conversations so has never been considered a viable option.
So far as your board posts are concerned, once you've posted them, they're here for good, or at least, for as long as the Zone is here. in short, be certain of what you wish to say before saying it because once it's said, there's no unsaying it. LOL. Bugger, that now means that my made up word, (unsaying) is now on record.
I don't really have any strong feelings either way as to your first suggestion. I suppose a mental health board does seem like overkill to me, but I can't say as I really care overly either way.
Dan.
unsaying unsaying! there, now, even if they do find a way for us to delete posts, your made-up word will forever be etched into the history of the zone. Alright then, it's too bad that the editing/deleting of posts won't be considered. People "unsay" things on the internet all the time. Alas, my suggestions weren't original LOL. Thanks for the replies though!
Skyla, I'm not necessarily against your suggestion. It's just that we've already got more board categories and topics than I think we know what to do with. Smile. But you're right, health and wellness would be the place for such things. If you wish to start a thread there, go for it. I'm sure you'd get plenty of answers to whatever it is you'd like to talk about.
I agree with all posts here. There is already a helth and wellness board, and that covers both physical, and mental wellness. I think, if they were to do this, everyone of every type of illness, would want there own board. As Alicia said, there's already way too many boards out here. and also in regards to the edit post, there already is a review post before posting, and yes, deleting posts is a damage to the threads. Why do you think posts from disabled accounts are still up there? LOL.
can i have my own blonde board? i need a safe place where i can write and actually be able to understand what's written. everyone would have to speak in blonde. it's not that difficult. please please please?
Ok, how about being able to quote people then? that way, if they later went and unsaid what they'd said, they would have been potentially quoted by another member. Has the ability to quote posts been suggested before?
I've seen where people have cut and pasted text out of others' posts and mentioned they were quoting.
Lou
These are great suggestions Skyla, like others here, however, I have reservations. Firstly some illnesses, such as the ones you've mentioned can cut across many facets of illness, not just mental health. Therefore putting them into such a tightcast category may be a bit limiting. Editing and deleting posts, I have to agree with Dan on. It has also been said that you can't unsay things in real life, so why should you be able to on the net. (Dan's word definitely has plenty of use here lol). Being able to quote posts is a great one though. I've seen it on other forums, where you just press a button and can quote that way. True, we can copy and paste, but quoting that way is that bit easier. Just my £0.02 on the matter, or should that be €2.00.
Cheers,
Simon
I don't see the point of asking admins to code something we already have the ability to do in a simple way with our pc already. There are other things that have been suggested that we need far more, like the filters we have requested for example.
I agree with Kevin, if everyone here knows how to use a computer, (assuming we all do), copying and pasting should be that hard now should it? Lol!
